The Smile Orchids (Genus Mokara)
In 1969, C.Y. Mok of Singapore introduced his tri-generic hybrid of Ascocentrum, Vanda and Arachnis orchids. This group was named in his honor and is called Mokara.  Monarka Wai Liang was the first hybrid. The They are abbreviated as Mok. This hearty hybrid has a unique flower shape and an intricate patterns within the petals of some varieties make the orchid look as though it is smiling giving it the common name "Smile Orchid." The flower spikes have the potential to last up to two or three weeks in the vase with proper care making them very desirable cut flowers and very popular in the floral industry.

Light: Bright; just short of full sun.

Water: Lots every day

Temperature: Intermediate to warm

Soil: Very loose with lots of organic matter
